VI Maratona BTT Gardunha "Rota da Cereja"

Boas pedaladas,

No meu caso vou tentar fazer o maior, 75km, Maratona "Aldeias Históricas".

Tonifica a alma!

Pedaladas bOas,

Good cycling,
This year, I didn't know haw, I went to BTT Gardunha doing the largest. Between 45km and 75km, I take the risk "it was a good shot"!

The normal insulin decreases, my fasting blood glucose was 98mg/dL, a good start. My dorsal required me to establish proximity without inhibitions, given our relationship! Heat, in this kind of intimacy is intense, at this time of the year, in our region increases, even if there isn’t ”chemistry between the couple," my GPS got 42°C.

I didn't like the altimetry chart, last 35km were applied almost two thirds of the total accumulate - 1945m!

Until 1st supply I was recover positions, especially every time there rises. The only stopped to illustrate my texts, I picked up the vice-versa of my dorsal, and almost witnessed a fall, which fortunately he doesn't crippled so mush.

We arrived at Souto da Casa village, 1st supply, full as always, 92mg/dL, even doubling the VITARGO on 1st water bottle! Redid the ELECTROLYTE, ate a banana and a muffin, I joined with coke, I took off a banana and another muffin.

It was very hot indeed, that didn't uncomfortable me but required a permanent contact with the water bottle. From Souto da Casa, it passed roughly 10km (already 35km), I noticed a “break” in my legs (a symptom of hypoglycemia). Banana and muffin were immediately in, before that, I cycled lost with a group, about 1000m, we went to meet other cherry trees!

I stop on a water point at 40km, I redid more ELECTROLYTE, by lucky, I knew it was the races separation, from there we start true ascents, the rest of 1400m accumulation, from remaining 35km.
I made these first ascents with a mate at a given time, outlining these track, I said:
- "We also go to Castelo Novo, we have plenty of time ...!"
Light on his mind, he was on the largest marathon. I continued but I felt weakness (now I know, no longer I recover from it), I took a energy gel and new pictures section...

On a hill lost in Gardunha Mountain, on my way to Alcongosta, a farmer, upon his tractor, asks me if the supply zone was there! I recognized the question tone. I replay him I didn't had on my knowledge that stop. The dialogue took place in an indirect attitude, both aware of each other response! He didn't want to see the photos - thank goodness because they were bad - but as well, I didn't told him I had eaten cherries from another farmer...

Already in Alcongosta, with its famous fountain, I toke another water bottle. About details from the route they answered me; "now you go up the Roman road, go down to Alpedrinha, Castelo Novo, there is the supply, I think, go to antennas (highest place on Gardunha Mountain), but then it's always down to Fundão". "I CAN NOT BELIEVE", I thought!!!
The psychological remained low, the physical was worse. Complicated to get there, there was a great track between cypresses - feature from this race - but it was before the Roman road. The beginning of it was made by hand, taking the opportunity to recover, I went down to Alpedrinha. I was very demoralized. My feet and hands were on "fire". The same Organization element, who gave me two bananas, reports that 2nd supply was only in Castelo Novo. It was comforting to hear the support from those who did not make the slightest idea of our purpose there. It tones our soul!

The tracks difficulty already in Castelo Novo village - if going down it would be difficult - as they were rising, everything got worse! Found unnecessary, were absolutely torment! I assure that was the most beautiful supply zone I stopped, perhaps the most harder to achieve! A fantastic granite all square (village that I know particularly well), I take a photo with a group of my friend, José Carlos, a blue O rider from Coruche. Ate fruit, bread with cherry jam - it was fantastic - lots of water, redid the last VITARGO bottle, I took a chocolate and a banana out.

Well fed and watered, I had a slight headache (from the hypo had started, maybe, 2 hours before), it came 3 more athletes, I went out with the antennas on my head. The legs did not react, even cycling slowly, everyone passed me. Hypo recovery, within constant increases, as was the case, it never occurred. I stopped, rested, took pictures, another rider catch me, I catch him, and assuring me it was ok I come down to Fundão.

This one I overpass it with difficulty, but the mind, often, invigorates with the fact that I be the example for those who follow me. It has resulted...

Rides good,
casf
