X Triatlo Fundão

Bom desporto,

Good sports,

Last May 24th I went back to Fundão, past eight months, this time with the clear goal of revenge!

In 2013, my 1st triathlon, I stop on the road, after leaving the dam, with a hole in each inner tube!

At fasting I had 136 mg/dL having the normal insulin units. The sprint version is fast enough to do in an hour, for some, of course!

I put my snickers on TP2 (Transition Park 2), with a VITARGO GEL.

On the exactly time I caught the bus that went to the starting point, but the truck with my Canyon Ultimate AL and the others bikes, not really...

We arrived at Capinha dam but the logistics with GNR (National Republic Guard) and the parked cars on the road would "drag" the start for 11:40am. I raised everything, measured my blood glucose: 190 mg/dL, ate a banana as I set up everything on place, and I, in the isothermal suit, I help a friend and he helped me...

On the water, with the normal start up confusion, I stayed behind, I wanted to control and didn't want to suffer any hit... I confess I drank more water than I want. In the end I left with more lucidity than 1st time, contributing for that my workouts on the pool.

I took off the suit, I wore my shoes, helmet, glasses, in the VITARGO water bottle only water and I tooked with me a GEL to had in the middle of cycling... I went down for the worst part of the route, the one who make me some trauma, I passed "thin", looking every tar hole, "wet cat is afraid of cold water"...

I follow on a balanced pace - I was controlling my pace, I had the 5K running at the end - because the route had some climbing’s, I force on descents, one a hill I took the GEL, to make more 15K.

The Olympic athletes Gabriel Macchi and his guide and coach Martin Nunes - inseparable these Portuguese Paralympics athetes – passed throughout me, here on his 1st triathlon as well for the Portuguese triathlon, it was the 1st participation of athletes with visual impairment from Gabriel. They preparing for 2016 Olympic Games...
I went out the bike a bite tired up. I put the snickers and grab another VITARGO GEL - cautious - already the speaker announced the winners on finish line. My 1st round I had a bed impression but on 2nd and final round, psychological and finish line engaging “call for us”, when I finish, because of my suit, they said with me no one make any FLOUR!

I remember I made a gesture to the photographers, framing "changing diabetes" when it gave a slight cry of "Ipiranga "!

VI Trilhos da Açafa

Boas pedaladas,

Pedaladas boas,
casf

Good cycling,
"VI Trilhos da Açafa" in Vila Velha de Ródão returned in 2014, on a time of the year much warmer, allows to change the skin tone.

At fast my glycemia was 111mg/dL, I decided* insulin’s and took a breakfast without fast HC (* I had fast and basal insulin, reducing quantities, even with a "normal" blood glucose, giving fast, requires a careful effort spending control/observation and what we eat during).
The famous breakfast of these "Trilhos" was filled with typical delicacies, highlighting some "revueltos" eggs, roasted sausages, ham, cakes, juices... I got a "sludge" coffee and a homemade biscuit since they called us to the starting line.

Two distances; 45K and 65K, from 65K accumulate going around 1000m, gave rise to fast cycling. Much of this accumulated was performed in the first 10k, causing the peloton split. In the meanwhile I was resorting to my VITARGO ENDURANCE.

I enjoyed the course, with no technical parts, were very well chosen, some of them well worked, I emphasize the villages of Tostão, Vale do Homem and Rodeios. The "caravan" was saluted as we passed by, being an asset to anyone who's applauded and the local passivity serves to "change of scenery".
On 1st supply, located in a square from Vale de Homem village I measure 96mg/dL, time to biting another dry cake with cola, a banana, 1/4 oranges and lots of water, the felt heated asking a lot for it.

In an “intermediate" transaction - a route with 2 supplies – I normally control the pace, feel my body and legs reactions, enjoy the scenery, and had time to tock a few more photos...
Reversed the path in Sernadas de Rodão, always down several paths, where washed in a dam, till there we had a stunning views.
The 2nd supply was down there with a "window” for the dam, under a big three shadow. I didn’t measure, ate a cheese sandwich with some coke, redid the VITARGO ELECTROLYTE, some oranges and left, I wanted to see if I could do less than 4hours...

The very rock shock route made me look back, at one of the times I seemed to burst the tire! I had to stop to confirm, when I took a VITARGO GEL, since the body and clock asked me to push forward!
We followed by a track that skirted Tejo river, later they confessed to me that should have been worked by hand and not by a machine, stripped it the intended concept - a single track - but this was the reissue, many years to follow, certain, with this organization with even more riders...
I finished after 3:56:02h. No hypos and mechanical problems, I ended with a "so well" a bit unknown to me. The work outs are to keep!
Lunch was preceded by 127mg/dL of blood glucose, covered with normal stories about several topics, in general all about sports.
Cycling good,
