VII Rota do Azeite - Proença-a-Velha

Boas pedaladas,

Continua...

Pedaladas boas,
casf

My english version:

Good cycling,

This event normally opens my MTB calendar, where the “machine” condition is assessment. In fact, I tested both machines!

Fasting was found with 80 mg/dL blood glucose, as always, I didn't give fast and reduced the basal, breakfast was a mix of slow HC with fast, 50K was marked.
Some rain Saturday in a completely gray day, Sunday woke up with some clouds but with a sun "framing" a perfect day to do mountain biking.

A different route from the usual where the landscapes from "MTB Cathedral” - as its nickname this region - came above. There were riders who abused wanting to admire the views, holes and more holes, I was just afraid stopping nears them... "Scalded cat, from cold water is afraid" - it's a Portuguese saying...

In Santa Margarida village - halfway - my blood glucose reader referred 82 mg/dL, I ate a kind of mix snack with juice, a sweet rolling cake a Vitargo gel accompanied by plenty of water, I dilutes the Electrolyte and finally, on "Rota do Azeite" - Olive Oil Route - I ate a "tiborna", made in front of us, with true olive oil from the village, a specialty!

Back to my 26" bike having my last two years with a 29" wheel has its differences, they told me, they warned me up, but, "when learning to ride a bike you never forget", and however, "I don’t remember having so many gears... I never cycling so long with the "grandmother" gear... but, it don’t move, it seems I'm stopped!?... Oh my... this is very tired!!!!"

The return to Proença was not by the famous single track, but it was a beautiful ride. To be continued...

Good rides,
casf

TERRITÓRIO Círcuito Centro - #2 Vila Velha de Ródão

Boas corridas,

casf

My english version:

Good runs,

Since January blue O Project ride on tracks, for me, the 1st on 2015 was performed with virtually no training, but I can say it was anything but dull...

Had 132 mg/dL of blood sugar I cancel the fast insulin and reduce the basal in 10 units.

On my way to Vila Velha de Rodão, 4K to arriving, my car thermometer indicated -4.5°C!!!

On the row to get my dorsal I speak a few words with Rui Luz, at home we give him a special nickname since Oleiros Trail last year, his humility is enviable, suddenly Analice Silva "glued" ahead us! For a mortal who gets up early, with negative temperatures, to go running in the field could create some "confusion", but this Lady with 70 years old go to all ultra trails runs with a charisma that many adults have not met yet, this is about  trail running... In the row, we were practically the last ones!

We listening all recommendations - safe our legs for the end - and left for the bodies began to temper the cold with the sun was felt......

On a uphill approaches to me a friend which I didn't speak for more than 20 years, perhaps, in a similar occasion, at the time we were both scouts from the 67, Miraldo, it was a pleasure to see you man!

The track, mostly on opposite way from last year, led us to Tostão village for the 1st  supply, I ate a corn porridge portion, half a Borrachão dry cake and drank some Coke.

After 10K barrier arises the commented "wall", in my "featherweight" not displease me at all, however, this was different in its size and slope. While I framed the scene, I measured 47mg/dL of blood glucose!!! Without the normal symptoms, I check for gels, biscuits, water, if the photo caught the "protagonists", if I was smiling... This impasse, where everything seems to hinder, more than 20 or 30 athletes passed through me to crease the track! After climbing was always down...

In my case, on trail running, descents give me troubles - therefore my anger about this sport activity - these always give me troubles on a knee - yes I have to go to physical therapy - this has been repeated in the few trails I went, passing through some km amount, descents make my moves painful, a pain that starts on a impressions in my head and settles on my knee, damaging the other leg to supports the subject stubbornness.

While talking to a rider who had just met - Manuel Cordeiro - spooking about Abutres Trail, he compared this #2 TCC in VVR, as a ride in the park... On the descent it seems never ending, I commented about this disappointment and my diabetic condition, the association to blue O Project, when suddenly asks me:
- Do you know Frederico Teixeira? It is also diabetic, is orthopedist in Lisbon.
- It's Dr. Salavessa husband...
- Silvia! That's it, Silvia!
- I know but only virtually, they do climbing and mountaineering... Is not it?
- Yes, we have climbed together the mountain... with more than 6000m...
- They are very good people, I replied it!

I didn’t focus on mountain name because my knee pain had over passed on the "impression" that I felt on the head!

I clearly confirmed, because, grabbing on a group of young diabetics - from AJDP - to go up to some mythical mountains, demonstrating any diabetic is able to do it, they can only be good people!

We arrived at 2nd solid supply in Vilas Ruivas village, where I measure the "lady", 72mg/dL.

Only missed a bench to sit down and eat, my leg was hurting, I started with Coca-Cola, marmalade squares, toast with nutela, a cake, water, banana... Fortunately, there were no seats...
In the middle of this "delicacy" comes an athlete (Pedro Cordas), asking me for Sérgio (Moreira):
- Perfect! I answer him.
- You know, we finish together the Abutres Trilho!
- Sérgio it's a machine, you saw the report, his blood glucose, a great example of how a controlled diabetes, everything is done!

My words could’ve been these but his expression when speaking about Sérgio, revealed the good impression made on him.

I was a little longer, I washed my cup, packed everything, thanked and said goodbye, succeeded athletes goes through me.

On the last 8K we climbed to the King Bamba Castle, at the viewpoint of Rodão doors, and the descent to VVR, the pain!!!

As I said in the beginning, was anything but boring my return to trial running, I still got enough for in a few weeks I drop another toenail, this time from another finger, other than last year at this same event.

Anyway, diabetic suffers.

Best runs and "hObble" than I
